Before choosing a calculation
Is an electricity footprint the same as a personal footprint?
No. Electricity is one activity. A broader result needs an explicit list of included activities, a common reporting period and compatible factor boundaries. Do not compare totals that include different things.
Can I use a generation technology’s lifecycle median as a country grid factor?
No. A technology lifecycle estimate and a location-specific electricity mix are different quantities. Use a documented factor appropriate to the region, period and accounting boundary.
Where should I start when a calculator offers a country preset?
Check a source suitable for your purpose and enter the relevant factor where supported. Record its year, geography, unit and scope. Treat defaults and broader diet/goods estimates as assumptions, not verified values for your own footprint.
